Virtual Excursions for Science Learning
Middle and high school students can be mentored directly by virtual scientists in Horizon Worlds with this new game. Players take on different roles aboard a research vessel in the Pacific Ocean and learn how to collect and analyze plankton. They discover the ways that these tiny forms of life are being impacted by climate change and earn achievements for completing tasks. The experience is being used for research with students at the University of Oregon.
In the future, we plan to add additional research missions that explore different aspects of ocean and marine science. If you are a teacher and would like to share the experience with your student or collaborate with us, feel free to reach out!
